Welcome to the sleep training section of your New Mom Thoughts Keepsake Journal! Whether you're a working or stay at home mom you may have decided that sleep training your little one is for you. If you have no idea what I'm talking about sleep training involves creating routines and practices that help your baby sleep more soundly at night which means you'll get more sleep. Products linked here are ones that I used and loved with William and highly recommend. They are linked directly to Amazon for easy purchasing. I only recommend things that are 4.5 stars or higher, and I read the bad reviews, so you're in good hands.
Sleep Training Book : 12 Hours By 12 Weeks
Some sleep training methods encourage crying it out for extended periods of time, but that just wasn't for us. I liked that this book had a practical approach and gave methods that weren't going to make me feel bad, but also taught him some independence as well. She recommends starting sleep training around 8 weeks and when your baby is drinking 24 ounces of milk a day. You probably don't have time to read right now, so do like I did and listen to it at 2x speed on Audible instead.
Background on the Book: The author developed her methods after being a mom of twins who already had multiple children at home. Desperately needing a break, she let her dad babysit the twins so she could take a nap. Rising and still seeing it was the morning time, she thought she just couldn't sleep. Her dad told her that she had slept for 24 hours. After that she developed the system she describes in the book.

Baby Gear:
In addition to the items linked here, I suggest also:
1. Using blackout curtains to darken the room since your baby will probably be going to sleep while it's still light out
2. Establishing a predictable bedtime routine including storytime, bath time, etc
And realize that your baby's sleep could be off for many reasons including:
1. Teething
2. Sleep regression
3. Growth Spurt
4. Change of routine
5. Change in environment
So just be patient. They're learning and growing just like you momma. Also, if your baby isn't asleep for 12 hours a night, that's perfectly fine according to pediatricians. Even quiet time in the crib counts too.
